We are Rick and Denise Almond, we are Wildlights Photography, and we are passionate about what we do! I Denise, have been into photography since I was 12. My first camera was an all manual Pentax K1000. My mother bought it for me and that is when a lifetime of photography adventures was born! In my twenties started a 20 year journey into the world of WWII Air to Air photography! I have flown in a variety of ‘camera’ planes mostly WWII T-6 Texans with the canopy open…the wind blowing and photographing other WWII airplanes flying along side of us! So many stories I could tell of those days.

As time moved on, relationships ended, I have moved away from that and have come back to my first love, Wildlife and Nature photography. As much fun as the aviation world was, I find so much more joy photographing a magical sunset, a chance encounter with a fox, or waiting to catch that moment an eagle or hawk takes off in flight. I found love once again, my true love in my husband Rick later on in life, he has such a wonderful sense of adventure and loves to take me into the wild and untamed places. We have the best time in our Red CJ5 jeep named Valentino traveling and exploring our great state of Colorado and beyond.

One adventure he took me on was to Sand Wash Basin to see the wild horses there…my world changed at that moment! The beauty, the strength, the tenderness and family bonds has captured my heart forever. As we have become more involved and learning more we have discovered that the wild horses of America have been targeted by the Bureau of Land Management being rounded up and removed in decimating numbers in such cruel ways, zeroing out many herds and tearing apart family bands has broken our hearts. We have decided to donate 50% of all wild horse images sold to Colorado wild horse rescues to help in the effort to provide soft landing places for the captured wild horses. Included here are links to some of the Colorado Wild Horse Rescues. I encourage you to click on them and find out what is happening in the world of Wild Horse Advocacy and ways to help or get involved.

Along with the Wild Horse Refuge, we also commit to donating half proceeds to the Wild Animal Refuge and the Wild Animal Sanctuary for any images sold that were captured at these locations. We are so honored to be able to visit these locations and we are so humbled by the devotion to the captive wild animals they rescue that it is our goal to help in this way.
