I have been wanting to find Wood Ducks for years now and I always seem to miss them somehow. I get tips and go check them out and have always come up short. I make the most of those times, there is always something to enjoy and photograph no matter where you go!

 

I FINALLY got lucky on a tip from a fellow photographer friend at a small lake in Lakewood, CO and found a few of them! My goodness their colors are so beautiful! Rick and I spent hours with them on a nice February Sunday. We finished out the day taking a nice drive around the Rocky Mountain Arsenal Wildlife Loop, saw some deer, Bison, a Hawk, a Blue Heron, and had fun watching the antics for the prairie dogs. I see more trips to both places soon. Spring is coming and I can’t wait to see the baby Bison, Fawns, and even the little duck and goose chicks!
