5 years ago my husband and I took our 1977 CJ5 jeep ‘Valentino’ to Rollinsville Pass for our honey moon to see Yankee Doodle Lake and make it to the top to see the Needle Eye tunnel, along with beautiful scenery as well as wildlife along the way, was a great time until we were coming back down and our beloved jeep stopped running! We were stuck about half way down the mountain when a car load of vaping teenagers came along and offered to help us, they towed us down the rest of the way…fast I might add which was actually fun when we hit the muddy water puddles in the road along the way LOL.

 

We made it our mission to get back up there at some point to go up and come back ‘on our own’. This finally happened for our five year wedding anniversary. Wild flowers were in full bloom along the way, the lakes and waterfalls up there were so beautiful, we found some Picas and Marmots, reliving memories and finally made it down that crazy mountain on our own! We call it the Redemption trip!
