In 2024 while up at the Marmot overlook on Trail Ridge Road a nice young fellow told us of another spot to find and photograph picas close by. We found it and had a blast last year photographing them and just having fun watching these adorable little critters doing what they do best gathering grasses and wild flowers for their over winter food source as they do no hibernate and live above timberline.

 

We went back again in July 2025 to this spot to see what we could see. There was another photographer sitting on the ground so we walked over and joined him. He told me their paths they were running back and forth on, and sure enough he was right. We had a great time capturing images, visiting with our new friend and just watching them.
